Our gracious and heavenly Father,

Protect our team and families as they travel to Brazil to do your work. Open their hearts, their eyes, and their ears to learn more about You.

Father we thank You for the opportunity to serve.

In Jesus' name we pray.

  5. Hey, everyone, we arrived safely after our long flight and literally passed Lesly in the airport. We were entertained with a churrasco by one of the church members this afternoon, it was so nice and we were so blessed by their time and hospitality. Tomorrow we will be going into Novo Mexico and visit within their community.

  8. Tuesday Update -

We woke up by 8am and ate a hearty breakfast at the house then shared a devotional before heading to the favelas for family visits. The GSUMC team was separated in three groups and each team had a translator to speak to the Brazilian families. The walk to the favelas lead us through Santa Barbara and into the hills. Each team met with cell families and discussed their situation. Each team had opportunities to pray for the families and share the love Christ offers us. The meetings were very emotional.

After lunch, we returned to the hills for a cell meeting with favela families. Renato introduced the team to the attendees and read scripture from the Book of John. We were offered the chance to pray for the Brazilians and the line formed. Each member placed their hands on the person and took turns praying. The last Brazilian, in line, asked if she could pray for us. She let her heart out as she prayed.

We returned to the house for dinner followed by the nightly debriefing.

  10. I am glad everyone is enjoying the snacks. Hope Bill liked the new skittles.

It's been pretty comical around here. You haven't travel in so long I guess we are lost. I had a Brittany moment with the car. Called AAA all for nothing it was funny. Then of course today the car over heated.

I am sorry I just found out today Troy is having surgery in the morning (Thursday). He is having the tubes put in. I better get to bed I have to be up early. We miss you!!!

    Love,
    Cindy

Sorry for everyone to read our chat, but AOL mail is still not accessible. It was a long day/night yesterday and the emotions are high. I have lots of questions from the note - Troy´s surgery, Britt´s car, the vacation, etc...

One quick reminder - leave the car and Jeep key at home and not in your purse. Huge Troy for me and I am always thinking of you.

    Love you guys.

Sounds like things are going good there as usual, I am glad. Troy is done and did wonderful. He was VERY mad when he came to but they said that was normal for his age. Britt's car is fine it was mine. I should hear from Ralph today on it. Things are fine here so don't worry about us. You just do God's work there and can't wait to see you on Thursday.

    XOXO and love always,
    Cindy

  13. heyy dad (tom),
So let me fill you in on what happened with mom's car! oh my gosh. I took her to lunch the other day, and we ate and as we were coming out. The car wouldn't start, it made no noise so we knew it wasnt the battery. We assumed it was because we were on low gas. So taylor brought us gas AN HOUR after we called him to save us! And well, of course that wasn't the problem! So mom calls Gdad and he says i guess call AAA and we can go from there to figure out the problem... Mom goes to meet the AAA guy at Chili's and leaves the car keys at home. I had to rush them up to her fast so the AAA guy wouldn't get mad. And when i get there the guy tells her he will drop the car off.. and he gets inside the car and yells out MAM! I think i know what the problem is! And of course mom got all excited and was like WHAT! :) and the guy looked at her and said you have to have it in PARK to start the car!! She of course turned red and died laughing. So now i have been calling her blondey. :) i just wanted to share with you, so you could have a good laugh. I love you dad. TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES, you can never have too many!

    Miss you lots.

    love,
    brittany

The camera battery is not charging, so I am getting no pictures.

    Love you guys.

  19. Yesterday after our breakfast and devotional we had an opportunity to visit a couple of the local beaches before lunch. It was an overcast morning but the mist covering the mountains along the coast just made everything so beautiful. As we were leaving the first beach the sun came through the fog and Christ the Redeemer came into view in the distance. The second beach we went to was a little more on the comical side as we had a security escort...funny story but a bit long.
After a nice lunch in town, we went back into the favela to visit with the cell group families again and then stayed for their group worship time, which is always a wonderful experience. We sang songs, Tom and Melissa gave wonderful messages and we all felt the love of Christ in an amazing and different way. I can´t wait to experience what the Lord will show me next!
    In Him,
    Desirie

  23. Good morning Britt.

We are in our final day in Brazil. The trip has been great and another round of life lessons learned.

The rafting sounds fun and I cannot wait to see everyone in Colorado. Tell Tommy I will check with him tomorrow concerning the flight on Thursday.

Becky checked the weather in Houston and it looks like we may get some rain - awesome news for the yard. We arrive in Houston around 5:30am tomorrow, so I should be home by 8am.

Give Troy and Ava a hug for me.

    Love you guys.
